Their story
Wilkins Cider Farm is run by Roger Wilkins at Land's End Farm, Mudgley, near Wedmore. His grandfather began making cider on the farm during the First World War, and Roger learned the craft from him before taking over in 1969, keeping much the same recipe and traditional methods ever since. Apples are swept up once they fall naturally from the trees, and the farm's orchards contain around 40 different varieties, including Kingston Black and Yarlington Mill, blended together and fermented naturally in large wooden barrels. Cider is dry, medium or sweet, sold straight from the barrel in the farm's barn, along with local Cheddar and Stilton cheese, flagons, and other farm produce such as eggs, vegetables and pickles.
Their own orchards at Land's End Farm contain around 40 apple varieties, including Kingston Black and Yarlington Mill; fruit is swept up once it has fallen naturally rather than picked.
