Their story
Glastonbury Abbey is a historic ruined abbey and visitor attraction in Glastonbury, whose grounds hold a working orchard, restored to the precinct in the late 1970s on a site with orchards on record since the 1330s. Every autumn the grounds team and volunteers pick the fruit by hand to make a small run of apple juice and cider, sold on site rather than distributed commercially. At the British Cider Championships at the Royal Bath & West Show in June 2026, the apple juice took Best in Show in its category along with a class gold, and the cider won a silver for presentation. Named apple varieties are not published. This is a heritage-site sideline run by abbey staff, not a dedicated commercial cidery, so no individual is named as maker.
