Their story
Lyne Down Cider and Perry is run from the Cider Barn at Lyne Down, Much Marcle, by Joe and Ian Marshall together with Sabine Darrall, who bought the property in July 2015. The site came with a traditional mixed orchard planted and tended by the late Jean Nowell, a respected figure in Herefordshire cider and perry making; the new owners felt an obligation to keep it going, trained on a cider-making course, and have made cider and perry there since, describing themselves as 'accidental cidermakers'. Their range includes dry and medium ciders and a dry perry, alongside single-variety ciders made from Kingston Black and Morgan Sweet apples. The Cider Barn also hosts tastings, live music and seasonal gatherings, and a shepherd's hut in the orchard is let for accommodation.
