Their story
Ashton Press cider is made by Butcombe Brewing Co, which bought the Long Ashton Cider Co in 2003 to keep alive the name of the Long Ashton Research Station, a University of Bristol institute near Bristol that led British cider apple research for a century before it closed that year. Butcombe presses Ashton Press at its site at Cox's Green, Wrington, North Somerset, using English apples pressed locally and conditioned in oak vats. Unlike a farmhouse producer, Butcombe makes a single, widely distributed bottled cider rather than a varietal range, sold alongside its beers through pubs, shops and online.
