Their story
Bridge Farm Cider is made at Bridge Farm in East Chinnock, near Yeovil, on the Somerset/Dorset border. Cider apples come from the farm's own orchard and from other orchards nearby, all within a short tractor journey, with more than 11 local varieties often going into a single pressing between October and December. Apples are washed, sorted by hand and pressed on a hydraulic press dating from the early 1900s. The range has included traditional sweet, medium and dry ciders, a bottle-fermented sparkling cider, single-variety ciders, perry, and single-variety apple juices; the farm shop has also sold cakes, chutneys and jams. The company, incorporated in 2011, remains listed as active, and cider has historically been sold direct from the farm and at markets and shows across the South West, including the Dorset Steam Fair.
Grows some of its own cider apples at Bridge Farm and buys more from orchards nearby, all within a short tractor journey; more than 11 local varieties are often blended into a single pressing.
