Their story
Kicking Goat Cider is a craft cider brand founded by James Pearce, based at Lady Farm, Chelwood, with a sister orchard, Court Lodge Farm, in Kent. Pearce originally traded as Red Cow Cider, named after his home, Red Cow House, and his father's herd of red and white Montbeliarde cows, before a trademark challenge from Red Bull led him to rebrand as Kicking Goat, after a farm goat that used to kick down fences to reach fallen apples. The Somerset range blends seven of the seventeen cider apple varieties grown across the two family orchards, including Dabinett and Yarlington Mill. There is no shop or tasting room at either farm; all sales are online. The cider is sold in Dry, Medium and Medium Dry styles, all at 4.8% ABV.
