Their story
Alkington Cidery is a small cider house at Alkington, near Berkeley in south Gloucestershire, opened in June 2026 by Tim Haigh-Gannon and Steve Bindon. Between them they bring around two decades of small-scale cidermaking experience, and describe it as the first cider house built from scratch in the area for a century. Apples come from local orchard owners who donate their crop, with some receiving a share of the finished cider or help maintaining their trees in return. Cider is made with minimal intervention: apples are scratted, pressed, and left to ferment naturally in barrel over winter. The range runs from a cloudy, medium traditional cider to drier single-variety bottlings and blends, sold on-site in small volumes.
No orchard of its own; apples are donated by local orchard owners around Alkington, some of whom receive a share of the cider or orchard maintenance help in return.
