Their story
Pulpt is a craft cider maker based at Cleers View Farm on Somerton Hill, founded around 2017-18 by Jim Wakefield and Al Collar, with their first cider launched in mid-2018. The company presses apples sourced from growers across Somerset and Devon rather than from a single home orchard, and says it never uses concentrate. It has grown from a small local operation into a brand stocked by Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado alongside its own online shop. Its core ciders are Flare, a bittersweet and bittersharp blend featuring the Chisel Jersey variety, and Level, a medium-dry blend of four classic Somerset cider apples, with occasional limited-edition releases alongside them.
Apples are fresh-pressed from growers across Somerset and Devon rather than from orchards Pulpt owns itself.
